Tashkeel
Tashkeel – (نص مشكل) or Harkaat (حركات) is the name given to Arabic diacritics. These signs are an integral part of reading Arabic in the classical form. These signs were added to the Arabic language with the spread of Islam to maintain the proper pronunciation of the language for none Arabs who entered into Islam. These signs are used to give direction to the reader informing him what part of the word to be emphasize and with what sound. In Arabic the only difference between one word and the other is the diacritic sign used.
